An Open Letter to Healthcare Providers


As a concerned healthcare provider or fitness professional you know that diet and regular moderate exercise is the cornerstone of health and well-being. Stress and lack of sensible physical activity increase the risk of:
     • Chronic diseases,
     • Falls and possible injuries
     • Loss of independence,
     • Premature death.

Standing Firm Fitness is a proactive approach to health and well-being, specializing in sensible fitness to improve your client's quality of life, guiding and assisting through mindful, safe and effective exercise for self-management of health and well-being. I hold a degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in adult fitness management and have extensive continuing education.

As owner of Standing Firm Fitness and a certified fitness professional I have been helping individuals and groups to get moving for last twenty years, in a variety of venues and activities. Many individuals with diverse physical fitness skills and cognitive levels enjoy, look forward to exercise, reap the benefits for their efforts, and improve the quality of their life. So it is with great pleasure I offer the Redding community gentle moderate exercise programing either with the time honored practice of Tai Chi/Qigong or a more traditional approach to sensible exercise programming for health and well-being with Cardio Core and More…. I offer various classes at the City of Redding Park and Recreation. Check classes for current offerings.

Additionally I am pleased to announce my partnership with Shasta Regional Medical Center’s Health and Wellness Center to provide Tai Chi for Diabetes (TCD). It is especially designed for the management and prevention of Diabetes. This program was developed by Dr. Paul Lam and a team of diabetes experts and physical therapists to be safe, easy to learn and effective. It is endorsed by the CDC, American Association on Aging and has been adopted as preferred form of exercise by the Australian Diabetic Association. Classes began in August on Monday and Wednesday at 11am in the Shasta Room, 4th floor. This is an ongoing series with review at the beginning of each class so participants can join anytime. This program has both standing and seated options.

The health and fitness industry recognizes that some individuals don’t enjoy group classes; they simply want the personal touch and attention to get started on their own journey of exercise and wellness. Standing Firm Fitness is available to work with those clients to provide individualized exercise programming and coaching at my new location at Maxim in Redding.
